Disciples Home Missions is pleased to announce Minister Managerrie Winston as the settled Coordinator for Ministry with Youth and Young Adults. She comes to us from Houston, Texas where she currently serves as Associate Pastor of Youth and Family Connections for First Christian Church Houston. In addition to that call, she also coordinated Diversity and Outreach Education for Gulfcoast Regional Blood Centers. At both the church and center, Managerrie increased their participation levels in notable ways. As a commissioned minister, she has demonstrated leadership that is congregational, communal, and intersectional.
Minister Winston has written social-emotional curriculum for marginalized, minoritized youth and trained teachers, board members, clergy, and lay leaders in its components. Her expertise as a licensed teacher, certified in Journalism grades 7-12 and Business Education grades 6-12, informs her approach to reaching diverse learners. As Curriculum Developer for Blanson Career and Technical Education High School, Managerrie designed learning practices to help students through social challenges related to the pandemic.
Minister Winston holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, Public Relations, and Advertising from Texas Southern University, an MBA from Texas Women’s University, and a Principal’s Certification from Lamar University. Managerrie brings to DHM the passion, skill, and professionalism needed to strengthen our young people, their leaders, and our future as the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
